How
to Set Up Thunderbird

Download
Thunderbird and then double-click on its icon to install it
on your
computer. [Your version number will probably be different than
the one shown here] |

Once that’s done, double-click the
Thunderbird icon on your desktop to start the program. |

Go to the top, click on
‘File’, then set your mouse on ‘New’ until it opens, then click
‘Account.’

Choose ‘Email Account’ (this
should be the default) and click ‘Next.’ |

Enter the “From” name you
want your recipients to see in their email
Inbox. Here’s a screen shot from my Yahoo account to give you
ideas:

Enter the email address you
want others to see, for example,
yourname@YourSite.com

Select POP or IMAP (your host will
tell you which one they use) |

Fill in the incoming mail server
(example: mail.YourSite.com)

Fill in your user name
(your host will tell you how)

Fill in the outgoing mail server
(example: mail.YourSite.com)

Click "Finish"
Once you’re done, test it!! Send emails to it from another account and respond back to make sure it works properly.
If it doesn't work and you've entered everything in correctly...
I had problems when I set up an email account for a site I have on BlueHost, They said to check the "Secure Authentication" box, but after I unchecked it, my email worked fine.
I also had problems setting up my email for this site. InMotion Hosting gave me two options for the incoming and outgoing servers, so I when one didn't work, I tried the other and that worked.
I didn't have any problems when I set up the email for my other site, Affil-E-ation.
When hosts give you instructions, I don't think they actually try it to see if it works or not.

If you have other websites,
follow these steps to set up your email for
each site, and then you’ll be able to check your email for all your
sites in one place.
